Zap-It! – Mosquito bite relief

Zap-it! as a small piezo device designed to zap the itch of a mosquito or insect bite. No batteries are needed, it fits beautifully into your pocket and it’s reasonably priced at £5.95(making it a great secret Santa gift for a traveller as well).

A safe, clinically tested way to deal with pesky mozzie and other insect bites is to use  Zap-It! – a small but effective piezo (meaning to squeeze or press) device that generates a harmless and mild (no stronger than a gentle pinch) low electrical impulse created by crystals (this same technology is commonly used in clocks, lighters and guitar pickups) to deliver harmless little ‘zaps’ which stops the itching and urge to scratch in minutes.

I have used this one my last two trips and it does actually work to relieve itching. Being less than the size of your palm it easily fits into your backpack, pocket, bumbag, etc.

Please note this does not replace the need for insect repellent or antimalarials, it is not a preventative, it is a mosquito-bite relief gadget

You can buy a Zap-It from Amazon for £5.95

A practical bum bag

No, we have not taken a trip back to the 90s and yes I did say bum bag. Having recently ordered this bum bag from Solo I am converted. The entire Solo range has been designed by a backpacker with travellers in mind, meaning it is all practical and provides a solution.

I have a few bits from the range and the bumbag is by far my favourite, being both stylish and spacious. It has multiple different zipped sections as well as a strap long enough to wear as both a traditional bumbag and as a crossover. Priced at £15 it is also great value for money.

Thumbs Up Travel Gadget Case

Know a traveller who is a sucker for being organised? Then buy them a Thumbs Up Gadget Case.

This compact case aims to organise all of your wires and travel gadgets in one place. The case has multiple compartments, however, what I like the best is all sections stretch, meaning you are not restricted to what you use the case for. The outer shell is stylish and inconspicuous, meaning it can easily pop-in your bag without drawing attention to what is inside.

Priced at just £14.99 it is a must for every organised backpacker.

Nuud Deodrant

Gifting deodorant might not sound too fun, but, if you have an eco-conscious traveller who you are looking to buy for then Nuud Deodrant will go down a treat.

Nuud is an all-natural and vegan anti-odorant. Essentially, it cuts out all of the crap and chemicals found in your every day, non-natural, deodorants. In Nuud you will not find – aluminium, chemicals, artificial fragrances, salts, parabens or alcohol. Nuud is a deodorant which comes in an extremely small tube but will last up to 3 months – perfect for a traveller who is going away on a big trip.

You can read my full review of Nuud Deodrant here and you can purchase a starter kit for £12.95 here

A Klook Experience Gift Card

As a traveller who loves to visit attractions and book day trips while on trips, I can assure you that a Klook Gift Card will be much appreciated by all travellers.

Klook offers a simple way to discover activities, attractions and things to do wherever you travel. They operate globally offering a best price guarantee and activities can easily be booked via the website or app – meaning the gift card can be used before leaving the country or even at the last minute during the trip.

Gift Cards are purchased and loaded with credits, which can then be exchanged for anything on the Klook Website from a fast track entrance to the Taj Majal to a helicopter ride over New York City. A Klook Gift Card is a great way to contribute towards loved one’s travels without costing a fortune.

You can purchase a Klook Gift Card or Activity here.

Anker PowerCore Power Bank

Everyone uses their smartphones, cameras, and other portable gadgets a lot. There’s nothing worse than running low on power when you need it the most, this is especially important for people who spend a fair amount of time travelling. Losing power can mean a loss of safety, not to mention access to important travel tickets, Google Maps and translations.

I have been using the Anker Power Bank for roughly 2 years now and I would not be without it.  At roughly the size of a credit card (the thickness is larger, just roughly twice the thickness of an iPhone) at full power, the Anker PowerCore can provide 3 full charges of a device such as a mobile phone, camera battery, iPad, etc.

As previously mentioned, I would not be without mine now and it is by far my most used practical travel item.

A Cabin Case with Handbag Compartment

Looking for the perfect useful travel gift for a stylish jet setter? Take a look at the Travel Hack Pro Cabin Case.

The Travel Hack Pro Cabin Bag was created by Monica Stott, the full-time blogger behind The Travel Hack. The Travel Hack is all about weekend breaks and affordable adventures. Over the past five years, it has grown to become one of the biggest travel resources on the internet and has seen Monica working with global brands and tourist boards. It is safe to say the Travel Hack has become a household name and indeed a brand itself.

The Travel Hack Cabin luggage came to life from a collaboration with Cabin Max, and was designed using Monica’s extensive knowledge of stylish travel on a budget.

The unique feature of the cabin bag is the built-in handbag feature. Many low-cost airlines have strict regulations on only being able allowed one piece of carry-on luggage which is not very convenient for people who also like to carry their valuables in a separate handbag. The Travel Hack cabin bag has built-in handbag compartment at the top of the case and separates from the main case compartment. Meaning you can quickly and easily slip your handbag inside at the gate and not be worried about facing any additional charges. Meaning you have quick access to my phone, passport and boarding pass at all times.

The Travel Hack Pro Cabin Case is the perfect gift for the frequent city breaker. You can read my full review of the case here and purchase the case for £65.95 here.

Lens Pen

Most travellers also love to take photos and will tend to carry a camera with them. Smudges and bits of dust can ruin otherwise beautiful travel photos and videos. A LensPen is a great way to keep that from happening.

This small but practical gift perfect for cleaning camera lenses, binocular lenses, small aperture spotting scopes and telescopes, eyepieces, and other optical items.

You can purchase a LensPen for £7.95 making it a great stocking stuffer or Secret Santa gift for travel lovers and photographers.

Packing Cubes

I can talk all day about the benefits of decent packing cubes and I truly think they are a must-have for anyone who travels. They help to organise your backpack or case, they protect items, the maximise space and they double up as pillows – removing the need an awkwardly shaped travel pillow.

I have just invested in the Eagle Creek Pack-It Compression Cubes and I love them! They have an additional zip to further compress your items (without creasing) creating even more space – these are especially fantastic if you only have cabin baggage. You can buy them here. If you are looking to spend less, then my go-to value packing cubes are the WOWTOY pack of 6, they are not compression cubes but they are very robust for the price.

A TSA Approved Clear Bag

I am still surprised at how few people have purchased one of these and still opt to use a single-use plastic bag every time at airport security.

Not only does a TSA Approved Clear Bag save on plastic it will also save a ton of faffing and time at airport security.  This bag meets the security 3-1-1 rules and requirement of all airlines and therefore is the perfect gift for the worldwide traveller.

You can buy a TSA Approved Clear Bag for £6.95 here

An Amazon Prime Reading Subscription

The majority of frequent travellers I know always travel with a Kindle E-reader as opposed to actual books, therefore why not purchase them a Prime Reading Subscription.

I save a lot of money by subscribing to Prime Reading, Prime Reading is a monthly subscription which allows you free access to 1000s of books on the Kindle Store. Prime reading also includes free downloads of various magazines and audiobooks which will save even more money.

Prime Reading is currently priced at £7.99 a month and is the perfect gift for book lovers who like to travel.

Mobile Phone Camera Lens Kit

If you are looking for a gift for a traveller who also loves to take photos then you will want to buy a Mobile Phone Lens Kit.

This small gadget converts a normal mobile phone camera into a wide-angle lens, fisheye lens and a Marco lens. With the incredible quality of mobile phone cameras now this gadget can potentially eliminate the need for an additional camera, ideal for those looking to save space in their backpack.

You can purchase a mobile phone lens kits from Amazon for £9.99.

When buying gifts for frequent travellers it is important to think practical. Think of gifts that will be used multiple times and think of space-saving gifts, these are the gifts which will be most appreciated. All of the useful travel gifts listed in this post have been used by myself over the past few years and are all items I would be happy to recommend and gift myself.
