London Restaurant Review: Fire and Stone Christmas Menu

I am a sucker for a gimmick. Creative marketing is made for me. Give me a themed gimmick which is only available for a limited period of time and I will be there, luckily for me, at Christmas they come by the bucket load. Last year Byron Burger created the Fromagemas Cheesemas Feast (which they have brought back for 2018!) and I went to cheese heaven, however this year I was drawn in by Fire and Stone’s festive menu.

As usual, I booked the table through Bookatable. When planning meals in Central London I will generally always use Bookatable, not only is booking really simple, if you have not yet decided on a restaurant you can easily search through to find great offers or search by the area you will be in. I have found some great restaurants I have never heard about before by using Bookatable.

If you have never been to Fire and Stone before, they are based in Covent Garden and serve ‘Gourmet Global Food’. The majority of their menu consists of pizzas and burgers themed on cities of the world, for example Fire and Stone you can have a Marrakech Pizza or a Melbourne Pizza. In short, they serve simple food with a cultural twist and it works.

For Christmas 2018, Fire and Stone have created the ‘Christmas wishes and festive dishes‘ menu. The menu contains a selection of their signature dishes alongside a few ‘limited time only’ dishes. You can either decide to have 2 courses for £16.95 or 3 courses for £19.95 – a pretty good deal for central London.

So what are the Fire and Stone Christmas Dishes for 2019?

The Christmas Burger and the Christmas Pizza. While I do believe they could have come up with better names, the names actually explain the dishes pretty well – essentially Christmas Dinner stuffed in a burger bun or topped on a pizza.

The Fire and Stone Christmas Burger – Buttermilk fried turkey with crispy bacon, camembert, cranberry sauce and sausage stuffing with a festive side of rich gravy and roast potatoes.

The Fire and Stone Christmas Pizza – Roast turkey with sausage, apricot and herb stuffing, brie, crispy bacon, rosemary roast potatoes, sautéed Brussels sprouts, gravy and sweet cranberries

They sound pretty incredible right? While we didn’t try the Pizza, we did try the burger and while it sounds like the burst of all these flavours together should not work – it does. The camembert cheese really helps to bring it all together and the side of roast potatoes makes a great festive alternative to standard chips. Overall, the burger makes you feel as nearly as satisfied and full as you feel on Christmas day. But just like Christmas Day, there is always still room for dessert.

Sadly, Fire and Stone decided not to serve a festive dessert, however, you still have the option to choose from 3 of their normal dishes  – Chocolate Brownie, Cotswold Ice Cream or Cinnamon Churros. I went for the warm Churros served with a generous helping of Nutella for dipping, which was a great choice.

For those who do not fancy the Christmas selection on the main course, there a good size selection of their other signature dishes, ranging from pizzas, salads and pastas (with various vegetarian and gluten free alternatives) – I really recommend the Fire roast red pepper and tomato rigatoni pasta.

Aside from the food, The Fire and Stone restaurant has a good atmosphere with great service. Being located in the heart of Covent Garden it is a great place to eat when spending a day in London, the festive menu also makes it a great place to eat in London on a budget. After dinner I also recommend heading over to Leicester square to take in one of the best skyline views of London.
